Not sure what to say?

Sending my Love and Condolences.

I´m sorry for your loss!!! Mary always had a good heart and she was so sweet to everyone that she met. Mary loved Jehovah and the laughter she had would light up a room. She had a big heart and there was not a selfish bone in her body and everyone she talked to Mary made you feel like you known her for many of years! She will definitely be missed but grief can be so hard, but our special memories of Mary will help us all cope. Remembering your love today and always. I will see you in paradise...

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember when I first meet her, she welcomed me in with open arms. She always was so nice and had a smile on her face every time I seen her. She was a beautiful woman of Jehovah.

I am so sorry of your loss! I´m glad I got to know you! May you rest in eternal heaven! Until we meet again! Sue

Mary's Obituary

Mrs. Mary L. Bass Age 69, of Ferguson, MO, died August 19, 2025. Mary Lu Ella Bass, lovingly known as Lu Lu, fell asleep in death on August 19, 2025, in Ferguson, Missouri, at the age of 69. Born on September 4, 1955, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the third of eight children born to the union of Jack and Mary Canada. From a young age, Mary was known for her tender heart and joyful spirit-a true daddy's girl with a natural warmth that drew others in. She attended school in East St. Louis, IL and graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School. Mary was a devoted servant of Jehovah, she was baptized on June 15, 1973, and remained steadfast in her belief in God's promises of a paradise on earth. On September 18, 1985, Mary married the love of her life, Derald Bass. Together, they raised four beautiful daughters and built a home filled with laughter, love, and open doors. Mary devoted herself to caring for others and especially children, working as a private nanny and daycare provider. After the passing of her mother in 2000, Mary and Derald lovingly cared for her disabled brother until her own passing, and also tended to her father until his death in 2014. Her selflessness, humility, and strength were evident in every role she embraced. Mary was preceded in death by her cherished parents, Jack Canada and Mary Wilson Canada; her sister, Agnes Canada Fisher; her brother, Ozzie Canada; and her nephew, Stephen Canada. She leaves to cherish her precious memory: Her loving husband and best friend, Derald Bass; Her four daughters: Tisha (Lucious) Tooks of St. Louis, MO, Ginyier (Gi-Gi) Hoyle of Ferguson, MO, Yolande (Yo-Yo) Leonard of Hazelwood, MO, Dernesha (De-De) Gardner of Denver, CO; and bonus daughter Karen Clayton of St. Louis, MO; Her 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; Her sisters: Gloria (Ralph) Kimbers of Toledo, OH, Jackie Hicks of Aurora, CO, Dale (James) Singleton of East St. Louis, IL, Cheryl (Albert) Bell of Fort Myers, FL; Her brother: Jack Dylan Canada of Ferguson, MO; And a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives she touched beyond measure. Special Acknowledgment to Andre Dean, Catina Grayson, and Ola Thompson for their unwavering support and assistance. A Memorial Service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 11800 Old Halls Ferry Rd. Florissant, MO 63033 on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Our family wishes to extend a special thanks to those that visited and expressed their love at this difficult time.
