Lloyd (Gene) Ashley Sr., 88WINCHESTER - Lloyd "Gene" Ashley Sr, 88, of Winchester, passed away on October 4, 2015 at St. Vincent Randolph Hospital in Winchester. He was born August 14, 1927 in Randolph County to Steve and Mary Lou (Caldwell) Ashley.He was a 1947 graduate of Lynn High School and was a long time farmer and retired from Chrysler in New Castle. Lloyd was a jack of all trades and enjoyed playing cards, gardening, fishing and hunting.He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Clyde, Cecil, Lemon Ashley and Steve "Whitie" Ashley Jr. Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Betty (Sullivan) Ashley; daughter, Boni (David) Ashley-Dover of Jacksonville, FL, son, Lloyd (Karen) Ashley Jr of Winchester, daughter, Cheryl (Bill) Robbins of Winchester, daughter, Joan Ashley (Deon Vance) of Winchester, daughter, Brenda (Bob) Goforth of Winchester; eight grandchildren, Angi (Elijah) Kahle, Joel (Christel) Wagner, William (Angela) Robbins II, Ashley Robbins, Travis (Jessica) Goforth, Isaiah Ashley (friend, Karen), Isaac Ashley and Sarah Ashley; eight great-grandchildren, Fletcher and Kendall Kahle, Kyle, Zach and Kailee Wagner, Brooklyn, Jacklyn and Brock Goforth; sister, Ida Mae Nugen of Florida; sister-in-law, Jane Ashley of Winchester and his dog, Opy.A private memorial service for Gene will be held at a later date.
