I worked with Mary for many years at At&t. She was always smiling and friendly. She was always willing to help. Mary's family was always first with her.

I have a memory of Aunt Mary from my childhood. I don’t recall where we were or why, but I was walking along a forest trail with her. We would stop periodically and she would look through a pair of binoculars at a bird, tell me its name, then share the binoculars with me so I could see it. For a long stretch we just walked and looked at birds until the sun began to set. It was just me and her, the stillness of the forest, and the quiet tranquility of nature.

Mary was a long time friend. if she hadn't stopped to pick up a hitchhiker in the summer of '73, i would had never met my future husband. God bless you Mary, and we love you.

Mary Jane Rivett
August 29, 1953 – February 21, 2025Saginaw, Michigan
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Jane Rivett, who went to her heavenly home on February 21, 2025, at the age of 71. A lifelong resident of Saginaw, Michigan, Mary was a woman of faith, warmth, and unwavering kindness.
Born on August 29, 1953, to Roy Sr. and Lucille Rivett, Mary grew up in a loving home where faith was the foundation. She worshiped as a child at Faith Lutheran Church in Bridgeport and remained devoted throughout her life, later becoming a cherished member of Peace Lutheran Church in Saginaw. She greeted everyone with a warm smile and an embrace, making those around her feel valued and loved.
Mary dedicated her career to AT&T, where her work ethic and friendly nature left a lasting impact on colleagues and customers alike. When she wasn't at work you would find her tending her yard full of beautiful flowering plants or attending Audubon gatherings.
A devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, Mary’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—gardening, birdwatching, cooking and the companionship of her beloved dog, Bonnie. She was also a gifted crocheter, creating intricate, heirloom-quality pieces that will be cherished by family and friends for generations.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Kelly J. Rivett, and son-in-law, Don Griffith; her cherished grandchildren, Breana (Matthew) Griffith and Zachary Griffith, whom she loved as her own; her brothers Larry (Cathy) Rivett, Dale (Terrie) Rivett, Roy (Janet) Rivett, and John Rivett; and her sister-in-law, Kim Rivett. She was welcomed into eternal rest by her parents, Roy Sr. and Lucille Rivett; her brother, Jim Rivett; her sister, Judy Ann Rivett; and her sister-in-law, Carol Rivett.
Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin Street. Mary’s family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial to follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Frankentrost. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Peace Lutheran Church Saginaw.
Kelly's love for her mother, Mary, was immeasurable, a bond built on years of cherished moments, unwavering support, and a deep, unbreakable connection that will live on forever in her heart. Mary’s strength, kindness, generosity, and steadfast love will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew her.
