Mary Scolaro, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Golden age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Attilio Scolaro. Devoted Mother of Linda (Lyn) and Lori (Robert) Vasilevich. Loving Nonna to Luc, Giuliana, and Cico. Daughter of the late Angelo and Giulia Cecchin. Fond Sister of the late Antoinette (John) Tartaglia and the late Bruno (Susanne) Cecchin. Dear Aunt and Cousin to many in Chicago, Italy, Canada, and Australia.
Family and Friends are to gather for the Visitation, Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Belmont Funeral Home, 7120 W. Belmont Avenue, Chicago, IL. Funeral to follow Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1101 23rd Avenue, Melrose Park, Illinois. Family and friends are kindly asked to meet at Church for the Mass of Christian Burial. Crypt site entombment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Christ the King Garden Mausoleum.
Mary will be remembered for her unwavering love for family, family gatherings, good food, storytelling, beautiful smile and white wine. Her family meant the world to her; friends became family. Mary was a devout Catholic who prayed the Rosary daily and never missed Sunday Mass and communion.
She was very proud of her daughters and their accomplishments and thankful for her "son" Robb. Her world was her two Tesori, Luc and Giuliana. In her later years, she enjoyed living with Lori and Robb and watching her grandchildren grow up. She grew to love the Blackhawks cutting out their weekly schedule from the newspaper. She watched Luc's hockey games and Giuliana's dance competitions. She brought great joy to the Family when she adopted her third Tesoro, Cico. He would be at her bed at wake-up time in the morning, check in on her during the day, and remained at her bedside upon her passing.
Mary had a heart of gold and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and a life well-lived. She was an important person in the lives of many. Mary was cool and hip and fit into conversations of all ages. She is an irreplaceable part of our lives and will be terribly missed.
