Mary's Obituary

Mary Kamala Krupa Vijjeswarapu, a devoted sister to her brothers and sisters in law, and beloved aunt to her nephews and nieces, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025.  Viewing will be Tuesday, December 2, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Perryton, Texas.  Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be in Heart Cemetery in Booker, Texas.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Perryton, Texas.

Born on October 18, 1946, in Unikili, India, to Sreenivasa Rao and Aliceamma Vijjeswarapu, Mary was raised in a loving home that nurtured her strong values, compassionate spirit, and commitment to education.

Mary excelled academically from an early age. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry.  She furthered her studies with a Master of Arts degrees in English from Andhra University.  She went on to serve as a lecturer at Andhra Christian College, where she inspired countless students with her dedication to teaching. 

In 1984, Mary moved to the United States to join her brother, Dr. V. S. Christopher.   She continued her education at West Texas State University, earning a Master of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry. She later worked at Texas Tech University in Amarillo as a research associate before relocating to Houston in 1988. There, she served as a research associate at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, contributing to several published research studies. After her tenure at MD Anderson, she continued her commitment to science and education at Baylor College of Medicine until her full retirement.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Sreenivasa Rao (1995) and Aliceamma (2004); her brothers Dr. V. S. Christopher (1988) and Diva Kumar Vijjeswarapu (2023).

She is survived by her brothers Winston Vije (Nyena) of Houston and Daniel Vijjeswarapu (Martha) of San Antonio; her sister-in-law Mary Ann Christopher of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law Anasuya Devi Vijjeswarapu of Diamond Bar California; three nephews; four nieces; five grand-nephews; and four grand-nieces, all of whom cherished her deeply.

Mary will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family.  She was a fierce protector of her brothers, whom she loved with all her heart.  Her strength, loyalty, and generous spirit will live on in the many lives she touched.

May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
