Mary's Obituary

Mary T. Weiss, 95 of Northampton, formerly of Nazareth and Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Born on August 16, 1930 in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa (Hajzer) Buchvalt. Mary was preceded in death by her husband John, Sr. She was a member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Northampton and a former member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth. Mary and her husband, John were the owner and operators of the former Weiss’s Hotel at Daniel’s Slate Quarry, Nazareth, for 13 years until 1986. She was an avid crafter. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, going to the casino, playing bingo and bowling. She also was a member of the church’s Young at Heart.

Survivors: Mary is survived by her son, John, Jr. and wife Anne; daughter, Maria Mease and husband Rickey; grandchildren, Nick and wife Stephanie, Nigel and wife Brittany, Gabrielle and husband Tanner and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary is preceded in death by 6 brothers.

Services: Family and friends may call on Friday, December 5th from 8:30 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. in Assumption BVM Church, 2181 Washington Ave., Northampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in the church. Interment will be at Holy Family Cemetery, Nazareth. Arrangements are under the care of the Reichel Funeral Home, Northampton.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church, Family Pillars Hospice or to the Alzheimer’s Association in loving memory of Mary.
