Mary Lenore “Marylee” Morrison, age 81, passed on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at home in Athens, Pennsylvania after a short illness.
Marylee loved her Irish Heritage and researched and recorded her Irish genealogy. Marylee was the family historian and often spoke of her grandparents and great-grandparents who migrated from Limerick, Ireland and settled in Trenton, NJ. Often on a family conference or video call with Jameson, Tullamore or Apple Pie to toast family milestones, toast those who have joined the family through birth, engagements, and weddings. A toast was always made in honor of those family members who have gone before us. Born in Trenton, NJ she attended St Anthony’s Grammar School and Notre Dame High School. Marylee worked for the NJ Department of Justice, Appellate Division for over 35 years until her retirement and continued those work friendships throughout the years.
An avid animal lover, she also spent many years at the Chesterfield Veterinary Clinic as a Vet Tech. Marylee moved to Bordentown, NJ in the early 90s and moved to Athens, PA in 2013.
Daughter of the late John “Jack” McMenamen and Genevieve Foley McMenamen, Marylee is also predeceased by her son John who passed in 1987 at the age of 19, her deceased husbands Richard Stipes and Thomas Morrison, her first cousins who were more like brothers and sisters, Edward P. and Yolanda Foley, Francis “Bud” Foley, Jerome “Jerry” and Loretta Foley, Genevieve (Foley) Jelinek.Marylee is survived by her cousins-in-law Anne (Bud) Foley of Robbinsville, NJ and Clyde (Genevieve) Jelinek of Sultan, WA. Marylee is survived by her special friend and her husband, Deanna and Edward Barrett Jr, and her companion Albert Barrett of Athens, PA and a special young man whom she called Grandson, Jack Barrett, who were also her devoted caretakers. She is survived by a large family now left to mourn her passing by her 2nd Cousins who didn’t differentiate by generation but only as “Cousin”: Dave & Marie (Foley) Houseworth, Edward P and Barbara Foley, III, Joseph and Sherry Foley, Thomas and Cheryl Foley, Kathleen (Foley) and Raymond Bucchi, Anthony and Shelley Foley, Colleen (Foley) and Donald DeBlois, Doreen (Foley) and Jerry Falsetti, Jerry and Christina Foley, Clyde and Karen Jelinek, John Jelinek, Michael and Denise Foley, Sean (Mary) Foley. Marylee is also survived by 3rd and 4th generation cousins who she celebrated their many life milestones.Marylee cherished her son John and supported and attended his many soccer games throughout his short life and always welcomed his many friends. Marylee looked forward to the day she would once again be joined with her son John. They are finally together.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 12 Noon at St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum on Cedar Lane, Trenton, NJ.Arrangements are under the supervision of Lowery-Urban Funeral Home, Athens, PA and Peppler Funeral Home, 122, Crosswicks Street, Bordentown, NJ.
