It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Matthew Reshawn Eldridge Harbor, affectionately known as “Speedy,” on December 28, 2024, in Kerrville, Texas. Born on June 26, 1985, in Fort Wainwright, Alaska as a military child, Matthew brought immense joy and love to everyone who knew him.
Matthew's early years were marked by his attendance at grade schools in Burkburnett, Texas, Charleston, South Carolina, and Duncanville, Texas. In 2005, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served with distinction as a Search and Rescue Swimmer and Aviation Machinist at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Corpus Christi, Texas. Following his service to our country, Matthew pursued his passion for barbering, earning his Barbering License from Marinello School of Beauty in San Diego, California. His career spanned across San Diego, Fresno, and ultimately Kerrville, Texas.
A man of many talents, Matthew had a profound love for working with his hands. His hobbies included barbering, fishing, hunting, classic car repair, and construction. He was an avid cook and relished in serving delicious Southern and Mexican cuisines to anyone with an appetite. He remained a faithful Dallas Cowboys fan despite their ups and downs. He also enjoyed collecting items that reminded him of his youth in the rural Texas countryside and the City of Dallas. His remarkable sense of humor, unwavering loyalty, and selfless nature made him beloved by all.
Matthew is survived by his three cherished children, Kiana "Sol" Harbor and Tamayah “Mae Mae” Harbor (and their mother, Jamie), and Nykole Harbor. He is also survived by his loving parents, Judith and Steve James; his siblings, Lillian Harbor and Malcomn Jones; his best friend of thirty years, Brian Wright; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and United States Navy peers. Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Roy Harbor; his grandparents, Curlee and Willie Mae Jones; and his aunt and uncle, Gladys and Darrell James.
