I remember many times with Matt and the family at Riverview Park and Druce Lake when I was a kid. He was a great Cousin.

Matthew William Slesicki

May 28, 1934 ~ January 4, 2025

Age ~ 90

 

Matthew William Slesicki, 90, of the Town of Crescent, passed away on Saturday morning, January 4, 2025, at home with his family at his side and under the care of Compassus at Home Hospice.

Matthew was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 28, 1934, to Chester and Constance (Piaskowski) Slesicki. He was united in marriage to Shirley Younger in Chicago, on November 6, 1954. The Slesicki family moved to Rhinelander in the early 1970’s, making their home on Squash Lake.

Matt was a National Account Executive in the Trucking Industry. He was instrumental in creating a Wausau, Wisconsin location for Central Transport.

Matt was past President of the Swedish American Club in Chicago, Illinois. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Matt loved to fish, especially ice fishing, he also enjoyed golfing, his dogs, and spending time down by the lake. But most of all he loved his family, including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Shirley, children, Kathleen (Don) Stradley of Tucson, Arizona, Karen Zettler of White Pine, Michigan, and Michael (Jean) Slesicki of Tomahawk, Wisconsin. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Ryan Stradley, one sister, Janis Kulm, and by a great-granddaughter, Faith Botkin.

The visitation for Matthew will take place this Friday, January 10, 2025, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, located at 125 E. King Street, Rhinelander, from 10:00 AM until the 12:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial. Fr. Chris Kemp will officiate.

Immediately following the mass there will be a procession to Northland Memorial Park for the Committal Service.
