Melvin J. Daniels, born September 2, 1941, in Gary, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, surrounded by family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janetta Daniels; his parents, William and Ruth Daniels; and his siblings Donald Bertolo Sr., Marilyn Elkins, Dorthia Hiliard, Marvin Daniels, Margie Hopper, and Delores Dye.
Melvin is survived by his sister, Mildred “Mickey” Embry; his son, Dean (Katheeja) Daniels; and his cherished grandchildren: Ryan, Aaron, Zahra, Noah, Armaan, Zayn, and Musa.
Melvin retired from Roll & Hold, where he worked as an overhead crane operator, and previously worked at American Bridge. He loved the outdoors and had a passion for fishing. A former member of the Isaac Walton League, Melvin enjoyed working with his hands and took pride in every project he undertook.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 9th, from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Rees Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service and interment at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Melvin lived a full life, marked by hard work, love for family, and a deep appreciation for nature. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
