Merriel was a wonderful neighbor to my mom & dad and all of us growing up in the neighborhood. She. Was a sweet. Hard working lady. I feel honored to have known her & have some great memories of the whole Meyers family. .

Merriel's Obituary

WATERLOO - Merriel M. Myers, 96, formerly of Waterloo, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn.

She was born on Jan. 4, 1929, in Butler, Indiana, to Silas and Mabel (Goe) Nodine.

She was a 1946 graduate of Waterloo High School.

Merriel worked at the Auburn Rubber Company and was a farmer's wife. She worked on the family dairy and grain farm along-side her husband, DeVon.

She was a member of Waterloo United Methodist Church/Waterloo First Grace Church, and loved to garden. She had a large vegetable garden and did all the family canning and freezing. She was known for her lemon meringue pie.

Merriel married R. DeVon Myers on Aug. 3, 1947, in Waterloo, and he passed away on April 2, 2007.

She is survived by three daughters and a son, Janell Y. Grear, of Auburn, Marcia D. (Terry) Haskins, of Waterloo, Vonda L. (Kenneth) Akey, of Waterloo and Kevin R. (Sheila) Myers, of Conyers, Georgia; six grandchildren, Brad Haskins, Angie Zimmerman, Neah Eltzroth, Kraig Akey, Brittany Myers, and Shawn Myers; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Sally A. (Thayer "Ike") Bonecutter, of Celina, Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Patricia Korff; and brother, Dr. Duane Nodine.

Services will be held at 3 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St., Waterloo, Indiana, with burial to follow at Waterloo Cemetery.

Visitation is two hours prior to the service on Monday, from 1-3 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in memory of Merriel, to Waterloo First Grace Church or the DeKalb County Humane Shelter.
