Not sure what to say?

Viola and Cindy
I would like to extend my sincere condolences to you on the loss of your brother. Losing a sibling is so hard, I hold you in my thoughts and prayers. As I watched the beautiful service, I remembered your mom and dad. They were such wonderful people and they loved their family dearly. I got to know them through my job and thought very highly of both of them. As you move forward in your new journey, I hope you will be able to love the memories you’ve shared as a family and...

Dear Mooma, I will miss you forever. And I love you more then you can ever imagine

Our deepest condolences on Merv’s passing. Peace and strength to all of Merv’s family members. Rest in peace.

Our deepest sympathies

Cindy and Viola, sorry to hear about Merv. He was always a good friend of my mom and dad’s when working in Snow Lake. Your mom and dad became good friends also through Merv. I texted a few times with him and was hoping to run into him in Canora some time. My condolences to you guys and your families.

I was saddened to learn of Mervin’s passing. My sympathies to his family.

Mervin's Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mervin Nicholas Malish on January 1, 2025, at the age of 73.  He will be dearly missed.

Mervin was born to Ervin and Marge (Chernoff) Malischewski in Yorkton, Saskatchewan on December 10, 1951.

Mervin grew up on the family farm and attended schools in Zukunft and Mikado, graduating from Canora Composite High in 1969.  Mervin worked at mechanics and welding for a good portion of his life.  In later years he attended classes and became an Outreach Counsellor, counselling individuals and families.  He was based in the lower mainland of British Columbia.  He continued in this line of work until his retirement.

Merv loved the outdoors, but his true love was his Goldwing and being able to be out on the open road.  He made many trips all around the United States and Western Canada.

Mervin struggled with addiction.  In 1983 he found Alcoholics Anonymous and the Lord.  He turned his life around and remained sober ever since.  He was a guest speaker for various AA Chapters.

In 2023 Mervin was diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease.  His health took a rapid decline, and he moved back to Saskatchewan in May of 2024.  He settled in Regina and he and Viola lived together, along with Millie, Merv’s cat.  Merv passed away peacefully in the Regina General Hospital on January 1st, 2025.

Mervin was pre-deceased by his mother and father, Marge and Ervin Malischewski.  Mervin is survived by his son, Troy Malish; his daughter Tara (Ben) McWilliams and grandchildren, Caen, Lily, Olivia and Isabelle; sisters Viola Malischewski, Cindy (Wayne) Baron; nieces Aubrey (Brett)Tollefson and great-nephew Teddy, and Austin (Brian Boyer) Baron; and special friend, Cindi Disberry.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 11 a.m., on June 28th, 2025, at the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, Saskatchewan.  For those that are unable to attend, the Celebration will be Webcast on Leson’s Funeral Home Website following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Lung Association would be greatly appreciated.
