So sorry to hear about Michael. Thoughts and prayers to the Coleman family especially for Michael.

mike's two sons adam and michael plaued football with my two sons in the groton mystic youth football.mike was a devoted dad who was at every practice and games.he shared his love of photography with his many photos of the players and teams i still have one from 1995's mcro championship team.he was a good man who will be missed by his family and friends.

Our deepest condolences to all of Mike's family. We were Mike's neighbors for many years. Have many, many fond memories of time spent together and neighborhood shenanigans the "boys" got themselves into. Mike was a very proud father, talented artist and kind man. Rest in peace Mike, you will be missed.

Michael's Obituary

Michael (Mike) Arthur Coleman, 74, passed away on March 6, 2026, at his home in Groton, CT.  He was born in New London, CT on March 24, 1951, and was the son ofthe late Clara and James Coleman. 

Mike is survived by his three brothers, James (Jim) Coleman, David (Dave) Coleman, and Thomas (Tom) Coleman, and his two sons, Dr. Adam Coleman and Michael F. Coleman.  Mike’s youngest son, Dr. Adam Coleman, practices cardiology in Vermont where he lives with his wife, Heather, and their two daughters Bridget and Emma. Mike’s older son, Michael F. Coleman, lives in Minnesota with his wife, Katherine, where he is a Director for Inspire Medical Systems, Inc.

Mike showed an interest in the arts at an early age with watercolor and oil painting, but he found his true calling with Architecture.  He graduated from prestigious Pratt Institute School of Architecture in Brooklyn, NY and moved back to his hometown of Groton, CT to practice architecture.  He joined Lindsay, Liebig and Roche Architects LLC, where he worked until his retirement. He designed many buildings such as the Coast Guard Academy’s alumni center, the Waterford Country School, and many banks and firehouses in Southeastern Connecticut as well as private residences.  

An avid fly fisherman, golfer, photographer, and life-long New York Yankees fan, he also continued to enjoy watercolor and oil painting throughout his life.  He could often be found around town visiting his favorite restaurants and socializing with other locals. He will be missed by his family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Tuesday March 17, 2026, at Byles Groton Memorial Home, at 310 Thames Street in Groton.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Wednesday March 18, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 56 Sacred Heart Drive in Groton. Interment will follow at Colonel Ledyard Cemetery.

Immediate family will be gathering after the burial for a private reception.
