I’m real sorry for your loss. Mike and I played Football together at Berea, he graduated a year after I did. MICHAEL G.'s Obituary

On Saturday, November 8th, Michael G Yurasek, of Berea, Ohio, took his last breath here on earth, and was reunited with his parents Maryann (nee Slezak) and Michael G Yurasek, Sr in our heavenly home, where he is now free from the pain of his long, hard battle against PMP cancer.

He was born on March 31, 1966 and grew up in Brook Park, Ohio. He attended K-8 at St Adalbert Catholic School, studied welding at Polaris Career Center, and graduated from both Polaris and Berea High School as a member of the class of 1984. A short time later he joined his dad, Uncle Shorty and Cousin Paul Harnichar, and other great riggers at Norris Brothers in Cleveland, where he spent 36 years moving heavy machinery as a rigger/foreman, and as a proud member of Teamsters Local 407.

He married Lynnea, his best friend and love of his life, on September 30, 1995 at Saint Adalbert Catholic Church in Berea, Ohio, then honeymooned in The Bahamas. They gratefully celebrated their 30th anniversary this year.

Along with spoiling his dogs Munchkin, then Nibbles, and currently Sweetie, Mike adored babysitting his nieces and nephew through the years. He enjoyed cheering on all of the Cleveland sports teams, as well as supporting his nieces and their sporting, dancing, and musical events.

Family was so very important to Mike. He relished inviting everyone to their home for holiday fun, playing poker, slot machines, foosball, and rowdy rounds of “Left Center Right” for quarters. He loved boating, tubing, and fishing. What he cherished more, though, was sharing that love with his various family members, making sure they were having a great time, at all costs.

Mike went out of his way to help anyone who needed it, giving unconditionally and wanting nothing in return.

Missing him the most will be his loving wife, Lynnea (nee Zaleski) and his cousin, who was like a brother to him, James Reynolds (Karen). He was the brother of Pamela Daniels (Tracy); brother-in-law of Edward Zaleski (deceased), Danelle Eikens (Joseph), and Matthew Zaleski (Jill); and uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

Funeral Mass Saturday, November 22, St. Adalbert Church (Berea) at 11 A.M.  Interment St. Adalbert Cemetery. Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of BEREA, 86 ADALBERT ST. (OFF FRONT ST. LOCATED IN THE POLISH VILLAGE HISTORIC DISTRICT) FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 4-7 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Mike to GiGi’s Playhouse Cleveland, an achievement center for those, like his niece, who have Down syndrome. 15316 Detroit Ave., Lakewood, OH 44107  or gigisplayhouse.org/cleveland
