Michael Timothy Given was born November 18, 1957 in Kansas City, Kansas to Katherine Rose (Ashlock) Given and Ivan Andrew Given. He was the third of four sons and spent his childhood summers exploring his grandparent’s farm in Kansas. After graduating from Clear Creek High School in League City, Texas he joined the Navy and served for 2 years. He went on later in life to become a Master Mason 32nd degree and a Shriner at Galveston El Mina Shriner Burn Center. Michael was known for his outgoing personality and goofy sense of humor. He loved traveling, motorcycles, old cars, and fishing – especially deep sea fishing. It didn’t matter if the weather was bad or if he caught anything, he was ready to go with anyone who asked. In his free time, he enjoyed watching various TV shows, listening to music, and working on art projects. Mike with his big smile and thumbs-up, along with his constant reassurances that “it’s all good,” will be missed by all who knew him.His number one priority in life was daughter Brandy, son-in-law Danny, grandchildren Lilianne, Audrey, and Chance.He was very blessed with a large family with whom he was very close. He never forgot anyone’s birthday and loved to celebrate with friends and family. He will be reunited in Heaven with his parents, brothers, Frank and Flint, nephews, Nathaniel and Andrew, and his best friend who was like a brother, Reggie Gutierrez.He is survived by his daughter Brandy DeFore and husband Danny, younger brother Floyd Scott Given and wife Donna, grandchildren Lilianne DeFore, Audrey DeFore, and Chance DeFore, nieces and nephews, William and Terry Shaner, Fred George, Heidi Given, Amanda Given, Emery and Holly Given, Ruben and Audrey Gutierrez, great nieces and nephews, Jessica Michelle, Jillian and Josh Durkin, Raylynn Melancon, Madison Melancon, Grace Given, Nichole Wagner, Aaron Kane, Scott Kane, Amara Given, Amelia Given, Gavin Gutierrez, Zachary Gutierrez, his great great nieces and nephews, and many cousins and relatives.
