October 29, 1971, an intelligent, kind, charismatic, wise, small-town celebrity was born into this world known as Michael Paul Hendren. Full of incredible amounts of knowledge and skills, Mike graduated Hirschi High School in 1990 and went on to fulfill his dream of working for Clear Channel Broadcasting. In 1993, Michael met the loves of his life. Not only did he build up the confidence and courage to walk up to a young woman, but a young woman with a child. After a short time of dating Miranda M. Guilbeau, Michael knew his love for Miranda and Micha could not be matched.
Following God’s path and being a firm believer in making good choices with God, Mike searched and found a church to call his home, Bible Baptist Church of Wichita Falls. After allowing himself the time to pray about it and take a leap of faith, February 25, 1994, Michael not only made a commitment to be a husband to Miranda Marie Guilbeau, but also committed himself to being a father to Micha Leigh Guilbeau.
As years went by and Michael and Miranda longed for a second child, the couple were blessed with a son, giving Mike’s mother, Patricia Hendren, her very first grandson after many granddaughters. October 8, 1997 Miranda gave Michael the best gift a father could receive, naming his first and only son, Aaron Michael Hendren.
After 23 years of talk radio on the “Rise and Shine Show” and “Wake Up Call,” Mike felt a different calling and fast tracked a career into real estate and entrepreneurship. Working for Anchored Realty, Hendren Media Solutions, Lollie & Pop’s Sweet Shop, LolliePop Childcare, and working tirelessly to grow his Podcast, “Get It Right Texoma” with the Texoma Trio, brought him the greatest joy. His dedication and hard work to the jobs he built, couldn’t satisfy his needs to be more inclusive in the community. Mike was on many boards, including but not limited to, CASA, Cowboy True, Fantasy of Lights, and many more.
Besides work, Michael enjoyed his days on a ball field or court with his grandsons. Baseball, soccer, basketball, or golf, “Pop” was there to watch, sponsor, support and love his two grandsons LJ (Lance Jr.) and Maddox Givens. When he was not on a ball field, he was in a rocking chair reading a thesaurus to his granddaughter Eleanor Givens, as it was always her same choice of book for him to read to her before bed time.
Mike was known to be a “social butterfly-homebody.” While being able to juggle countless hats, Mike’s dedication was to the people of Wichita County to thrive and grow his community; however, his heart, love, and desire to be home with his wife of 32 years, children, and grandchildren was far greater.
Michael P. Hendren was a God fearing, troop supporter, he backed the blue, loved the brothers and sisters in gray at the Allred Unit, and had endless respect for his small town, local businesses, and the voices that made us grow and kept the community safe.
To most, he was “THE Mike Hendren” and everyone’s best friend, but to those who mattered most, he was and will always be, “Dad” and “Pops.”
He is preceded in death by his grandfather and grandmother, John and Mattie Pruitt; his mother, Patricia Jean Hendren; and aunt and uncle, Ina Pearl and Calvin Ellis.
Michael is survived by his wife, Miranda Hendren; daughter and son-in-law, Micha and Lance Givens Sr.; son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Selena Hendren; grandsons, Lance Lloyd Givens Jr. and Maddox Michael Givens; and granddaughter, Eleanor Emmarie Givens.
