Michael's Obituary

Michael Lane Hibbs, 70, of Wichita Falls went home with the Lord our God on Sunday, September 21, 2025.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Markley Cemetery with Pastor Chad Stubblefield, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

Mike was born on May 4, 1955 to the late William “Billy” L. and Doris K. (Hoffman) Hibbs in Wichita Falls. In 1996, Mike married Carol Sue Payne and treated his step-children as his own. The couple were members of the Harley Owners Group and took many wonderful motorcycle trips, including the Grand Canyon, across the wooden bridge over the Royal Gorge, Independence Pass in Colorado and even through a tornado in Beaver’s Bend, Oklahoma.

Mike was an excellent and artistic union brick mason. He helped brick many homes and major buildings in the Wichita Falls area, including the downtown old Southwestern Bell building and Wichita Falls High School. Also, Mike worked at Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas and in many towns surrounding Wichita Falls. Later he was the owner and operator of Hibbs Masonry Company Inc. until he retired. During Mike’s illness, his nephew, Kaine Maxon Hibbs took care of him

 In 2002, Mike was baptized at the Love Church in Wichita Falls and attended a Walk to Emmaus. He loved his dogs and named them all, “Mollydog”. Mike lived an interesting, colorful and full life. His two brothers, Steve and Ronald Hibbs and their families were very important to him. Also, his life-long friend, Mike Turner.  Mike will be missed by many family and friends.

Along with his parents, Michael was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald Hibbs and Stephen “Steve” Hibbs and sister-in-law, Pam Hibbs.

He is survived by step-mother, Donnie Lester Hibbs; niece, Gwen Hampton; three nephews, Billy Hibbs and wife, Miranda, Jeromi Hibbs, and Kaine Hibbs; eighteen great-nieces and nephews, Scott, Robert, Taylor, Chastity, Verity, Serenity, Harmony, Felicity. Trinity, Dalton, Sara, Steve, Mason, Kooper, Chloe,  Katelynn, Karlee and Rylan; friend, Carol Hibbs; two step-children, who he loved just like his own, Brian Bayliff, and Molly Brewer .
