Not sure what to say?

It was always a joy to see and talk to Mike at the downtown Main Library. He had such a great humor. I am sorry to hear of his passing. The world has lost a very good person. We loved shouting out the Reds! He will be missed.

Today was the 2nd time that the Lord asked me to serve a funeral Mass for someone I knew but had not seen for many years. My deceased wife, Connie Schulte who passed through death in 2017, worked at the downtown Library for the Blind and Handicap for a number of years. I do not remember if Michael worked in that department or elsewhere in the library. I do remember that my wife and he got to know each other. Since I was working at the foot of Mt. Adams, across from the Greyhound bus...

Michael always greeted me with a friendly salutation, ready to talk about the Beatles or baseball. His gentle kindness made a deep impression on me that I carry in his memory. Sympathy and peace to his family and loved ones.

I worked with Michael years ago in the Main library downtown. But I certainly never forgot him. He was a friendly reliable hard-working man. With a kind spirit. I am sorry he is not in the world anymore. My sympathy to the family.

My sympathy to the whole Knueven family. Mary Beth Brestel, fellow Library retiree

Mike was always the guy to discuss Cincinnati Reds & Cincinnati Bengals sports with at the Knueven family gatherings. He knew ALL the facts on Cincinnati sports. Mike could even recite stats on all the players going back decades. Mike, your pain & suffering are over. Love & comforting prayers to Mike's family & friends. Mike will never be forgotten. Mr. and Mrs. Knueven,

We so enjoyed our time bowling with Mike in Unified Special Olympics. His affinity for trains knew no bounds, and we learned so much from him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you grieve the loss of Mike. May he rest in eternal peace.

Michael's Obituary

Michael Lee Knueven

Beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, Michael Lee Knueven, 54, of West Chester, Ohio, passed away in his sleep on January 24, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with Kennedy’s disease that spanned the last decade of his life.

Born on December 30, 1971, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Michael graduated from Colerain High School in 1992 and spent most of his working years with the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County.

Michael was a kind, sweet soul with a deep passion for the things he loved. While autism sometimes presented challenges for him, he persevered, earning his high school diploma and eventually securing a full-time position at the library, where he worked until he was no longer physically able. In his free time, Michael enjoyed model railroading, game shows, and watching the Cincinnati Reds.

Michael is survived by his parents, Leo and Mary Jo (née Yelton); brothers Joseph (Heather) and Bernard (Jillian); niece and nephews Jacob, Allison, Leo, and Louie; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kennedy’s Disease Association (www.kennedysdisease.org).
