I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Mikes passing. I have so many memories of him from my childhood at Friendship East Baptist Church, the church trips we all went on and summer camp at camp lakeside! I remember he was the first person I talked to when I decided to get saved. He will be missed by so many! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you!

Michael “Mike” Carl Griggs, age 76, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 1, 2026.
Mike was born on March 2, 1949, to the late Alva Smith Griggs and Theodore Oliver Griggs. A man of strong faith and steady character, he faithfully served as a Deacon at Friendship East Baptist Church. His love for his church and church family was evident in his dedication and servant’s heart.
Mike proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army, he then retired after 20 years of service. He carried that same sense of duty, honor, and commitment into every area of his life — as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Phyllis Griggs; his daughter, Diana Griggs of California; his son, Michael Griggs of Memphis, Tennessee; and his cherished granddaughter, Rachel York (John Michael) of Georgia and two great grandchildren, Charlotte York and Tristan York, he also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss his presence.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Griggs.
Mike will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering faith, and devotion to his family. His legacy of love and service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
