Michael's Obituary

QUEENSBURY --- Michael J. Zuma, 73, of Queensbury passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 surrounded by his family, after a brief battle with cancer.

Born in Worcester, Massachusetts on January 11, 1944 the son of Frances (Jasionis) and Joseph Zuma.

Michael worked in the plastics industry for many years before moving to NY in 1979.  He opened The Glass Shop in Queensbury, NY in the mid 1980’s. Over the years he served as a Dog Officer for West Brookfield, MA and served as the President of the Worcester County Dog Officers Association for a time. 

He was an avid motorcyclist and longtime member of Adirondack Riders Motorcycle Club of Glens Falls.  He also loved working with his model railroads.  He loved pets and had many dogs, cats, fish, hamsters and whatever else his daughters could “talk” him into over the years. 

Besides his wife of  47 years, Lorraine, he is survived by two daughters, Chrisandra (Daniel) Grant of New Hampshire and Merrideth (Michael) Corentto of Glens Falls; four grandchildren, Jillian Grant, Gabrielle, Alexander and Jennifer Corentto. He is also survived by his sister, Carole Root of Massachusetts, one niece, Erica Root Cikanek of Maryland, and one nephew, Benjamin Root of Oregon.    

Calling hours will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 22 at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY.

A memorial service will follow at noon with the Rev. Joseph G. Busch officiating. 

A reception will follow at 1 p.m.
