Michel Gibran Fawaz
Michel Gibran Fawaz 84, of DeKalb passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb. He was born in Beirut, Lebanon on November 5, 1940, and was the son of Gibran and Athena Fawaz.
Michel graduated high school in Beirut, a city that held his heart and shaped his early years. On July 31, 1959, he married the love of his life, Clemence M. Khoury, in a beautiful ceremony in Beirut, Lebanon, marking the beginning of a lifelong journey together. As a devoted husband and a visionary, Michel spent many years establishing his real estate development business in Lebanon and US (Cleyet Development) with projects such as (Glidden Greens and GreenView), where his passion and dedication left an indelible mark. His legacy was built not just on his achievements, but on the love and commitment he shared with his family and the community he cherished.
Michel loved sharing the details of him and his wife’s love story. Their love and devotion to each other served as an example to everyone around them. There is nothing in life he loved more than his family. Michel’s favorite activity is gathering his large family around for large meals where he led the festivities. “Arak anyone”
Survivors include; wife; Clemence of DeKalb, son; Nicolas (Myrna) Fawaz of Beirut, Lebanon, daughters; Nicole (Curtis) Fricke of Rockford, IL Carole (Brian Weydert) Fawaz of DeKalb, Pascale (Louis) Pace of Naperville, IL and Cynthia (Matt) Samonds of Naperville, IL. 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers; Nicolas, Elie, and George, and a sisters; Renee, Gretta.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Finch Funeral Home in DeKalb. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 10:00am at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in DeKalb with Father Nicholas Jonas officiating, burial will be immediately following at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb.
