John, am so very sorry for your loss. Michelle was one in a million! She had a huge heart and was loved by so many, forever beautiful inside and out. She adored you and her family. She will be greatly missed.

Michelle helped me in my hardest times and I'll never forget that..ever. living in my car broken and depressed she would come by everyday to check on me bringing me food so I wouldn't be hungry. Michele was a true sweetheart and loved her family her friends and life. She had a beautiful smile and great laugh. I wish you all peace at this very sad time.

Im so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you and your family.

She was the one person who helped me the most when my daughter was small. I had many scares, and she was always there to remind me, "It is ok she will be fine." The time Tina split her lip, Michelle told me to calm down and she came over. I was in tears and flipping out. She always knew just what to say to give me peace of mind. She will be missed very much.

Obituary

Michelle's Obituary

Michelle Diane Catone, age 61, lovingly known to many as Honey, Mom, Grandma, Auntie Shell, or simply best friend, beloved wife of John Catone, passed away surrounded by loved ones, on November 6, 2025, at FirstHealth Hospice House of North Carolina. Though her time with us feels impossibly short, the memories made will be forever cherished, and Michelle's presence leaves an enduring mark in the hearts of all who knew her.

Michelle, of Vass, North Carolina, and formerly of Seymour, Connecticut, was born on April 21, 1964, in Endicott, New York. She dedicated her early career to nurturing young minds as a preschool teacher at Happy Day Preschool. Later in life, she successfully transitioned her professional skills and became a manager at Henny Penny prior to relocating to North Carolina for retirement. Michelle had an infectious enthusiasm for life and a memorable sense of fun. She was known to enjoy the excitement of going to the casino and trying her luck with scratch-off tickets. A bit of a fashion enthusiast, she also loved collecting designer purses.  Anyone who knew Michelle knew that the quickest way to make her happy, and to put that beautiful smile on her face, was to bring her a cup of her favorite Dunkin’ coffee.  Above all else, Michelle's greatest joy was spending time with all her children and grandchildren, dedicating herself to her family and beloved pets.

Michelle is survived by her loving husband, John Catone of twenty-nine plus years, her mother, Kay Huisman, and her devoted daughters, Candice Lea Orellana (Jose) and Brittany Rosa Catone. She was a cherished grandmother to Christian, Kataleah, Victoria, Luca, Natalie, and Matteo, and enjoyed spending time with her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She also leaves behind her siblings, Lisa Zurn, William Mugglin (Tammy), Laura Harris (David), Jason Mugglin (Sally), as well as many extended family members and friends.Michelle was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Floyd Mugglin, and her stepfather, Jan Evert Huisman. Michelle's warm heart, generosity, and fun-loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Friday November 14th from 4:00 – 7:00pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, CT. On Saturday at 10:00am a funeral service in celebration of Michelle’s life will take place in the funeral home with Rev. Jeffrey Gubbiotti officiating.
