Mike's Obituary

Mike Johns Jr., 92, of Noblesville, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. He was born on August 11, 1918 to Mike and Helen (Vargas) Johns in Dante, VA.Mike was a locksmith for Bridgestone Firestone for 25 years. He proudly served his country with the US Air Force during WWII, where he flew 50 combat missions over Europe and helped rescue 1600 POW's. He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Noblesville and the American Legion in Indianapolis.   He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia Johns of Noblesville; daughter, Wanda L Hunt of Indianapolis; son, James M (Renee) Johns of Georgia; two sisters, Ethel Schill & Emma Lup; brother, Joe Johns; grandchildren, Alicia (Jeremy) Stacey, Matthew Hunt, Kelsey Johns & Christopher Johns; and great-grandchild, Ava Claire Stacey.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Helen Tovar, Irene Vaughn, Peggy Solomon & Mary Racy; and son-in-law, Donald Hunt.  Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road in Noblesville, with Pastor Jeff Buck officiating. Visitation will be Friday, May 6, 2011 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.  Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church 16000 Cumberland Road Noblesville, IN 46060.
