A Soldiers Legacy

September 16, 1963 – February 11, 2016

Milton DeWayne Burden Sr., 52, husband of April M. Burden of Kingsland, GA, passed on Thursday, February 11, 2016. He was the son of the late Patricia Diane and Milton Floyd Burden. Some knew him as Wayne or Mr. Burden. He was a soldier to all who knew him. He gave everything of himself to help others. He was an inspiration to all.

His favorite bible verse was Psalm 17:3:

“Thou hast proved mine heart: (God made me the way he needed me to be.) Thou hast visited me in the night: (The spirit has given me an assignment to do His will.) Thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing: (The Lord gave me strength and knowledge to battle what needed to be made right.) I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress: (Listen to what I am telling you.  I am able to guide you.)”

Milton was a leader, counselor and a friend. He was the soldier we all needed in our lives. He was candid and straight to the point. He could make you laugh at what you thought was impossible to deal with, by making light of the situation. He would comfort you when you were deeply troubled. We thank the Lord for Milton; he was, is and, always will be a soldier for the Lord.

Milton was a loving father of two beautiful children, Patricia Diane Burden and Milton Dewayne Burden Jr. He loved them very much and was proud of all of their accomplishments. He wanted only the best for them.

He was a volunteer for some of the churches in the community, Ravens of Elijah and Missions for Camden County. He helped a lot of people even when he wasn't feeling well. He could never say no to anyone who was in need. He was that kind of person. Dedication and determination is what he lived for.

He drove school bus #603 for the Camden County School District for four years. Even when he stopped driving, he would always stop by and talk to everyone. They all loved him.

He was very much involved with his son’s Boy Scout troop 218. He would always be there to help with whatever was needed. He wanted Milton Jr. to keep working on his eagle’s badge. Milton was proud of his son playing 9th grade football at his high school. He always kept him with a lot of kids to stay active.

His favorite hymn was “Nothing but the Blood of Jesus.” His wife said, “At home, I would start singing it softly because I knew he would hear it and just as I thought, he jumped right in, singing it loud and strong with deliverance.”

Milton was awarded a certificate of completion with Road Master Driving School. He would practice with orange cones in the parking lot of our church, First Baptist Kingsland. He finished driving school on 12/05/10 in Jacksonville Florida.

Milton was a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He had a brand on his right arm that showed his dedication to his fraternity. Milton always had the spot light. He had a strong bond with his colleagues Anthony Hampton, Mike Gailliard, Harlin Williams, and their close friend Farid Harris.

Milton was extremely close to his brothers, Jerry form VA and Darnell from St. Mary’s. They were inseparable; when you saw one, the other two were somewhere near. They came from a military family so they took care and looked after one another all of the time. Milton was the eldest of the three. He loved to talk about his brothers; his whole face would light up with joy when he spoke about them. Milton was a soldier; we will always love him, forever. We will see him again and all of Christ's people say (AMEN).

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Patricia Diane Burden and son, Milton DeWayne Burden Jr.; brothers, Jerry Burden and Darnell Burden and a host of relatives and friends.
