Milton Eugene Hatten was born on September 29, 1972, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Lettie J. Hatten and the late Milton Woods, Jr.Milton confessed Christ at an early age and joined New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. William Perry, Jr. He remained a member under the leadership of Rev. Marcus A. Lewis until his death.
Milton was educated in the Birmingham City School system and was a proud graduate of the 1990 Huffman High School class. He looked forward to participating in the Huffman High School Alumni Week every year.
He loved the Brummitt Heights community. After several years without a community picnic due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he decided it was time to bring everyone back together. So, in September 2024, he planned and organized the annual Brummitt Heights Community Reunion picnic. The picnic was more than just food and fun; it was a symbol of resilience, healing, and togetherness. After a long hiatus, the community was reminded of the joy of gathering, supporting one another, and celebrating life.
Milton was preceded in death by his father, Milton Jr.; two brothers, David and Harold; a sister, Viola; and grandparents, Viola Pitts, Arthur Payne, Sr., Milton Woods, Sr., and Jessie Woods.
On Sunday, August 17, 2025, Milton entered his eternal rest.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted mother, Lettie J. Hatten; three sons, Erick D. Hatten, Melvin Blakely and Myles E. Hatten; two daughters, Mia Crenshaw and La’Niyah Hatten; three sisters, Geraldine Hatten, Angela H. Mixon (Charles) and Tia W. Page (Robert); three granddaughters, Karter E. Hatten, Divine E. Hatten and Zoey D. Hatten; one grandson, Amari N. Hatten; His niece that was like a sister, LaShaunda R. Henderson and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
John 3:16-17“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world: but that the world through him might be saved.”
