Mitchell E.'s Obituary

Mitchell Elmon Mines, 89, departed this life on Friday, June 20, 2025, surrounded by his family in his home. He was born on November 20, 1935, in Ashland, Virginia, to the late Joel and Margaret Mines. Mitchell was one of eight siblings which includes three living siblings, Barbara Mines, John Mines and Thelma Robb.

Mitchell found Christ at an early age and joined Providence Baptist Church. He served in numerous roles, Sunday School teacher, bus driver, deacon, an usher and more. Mitchell served in the military for three years with the 3rd Army Missile Command.

Mitchell was a faithful member of the Pride of Hanover 264 for 55 years and Mocha Temple No. 7 for 36 years. While making lifelong friends, Mitchell surpassed the levels of Royal Arch Mason and Knight of Templer to achieve the privilege of Scottish Rite Mason (32nd Degree). After retiring from Wyeth-Ayerst Pharmaceuticals, Inc. as a shipping supervisor, Mitchell became more active in those organizations and as a Henrico Doctors' Hospital volunteer.

Mitchell was joined in Holy Matrimony with Gwendolyn Tinsley. Mitchell was a devoted husband, loving father, dear brother, and a faithful friend. Anyone that knows Mitchell knows he loved bowling on numerous teams, watching NASCAR, hanging with his “Breakfast Club” buddies, and vacationing with his family.

Mitchell leaves to celebrate his life, four children, David Fields, Jr (Stacey), Mark Mines (Lydia), Muriel Mines, Tracey Lamb (Timothy); seven grandchildren, Wesley, McKenzie, Trevor, Madison, Taylor, Marleigh, and Mark II; four great-grandchildren; three siblings, six sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
