She was always willing to share her life, love, and joy with others and will be greatly missed! Monica M. Drzewiecki (nee Karwatka, Hayes)

Age 77, of Schererville, IN passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025. She is survived by her son, James Drzewiecki (Meghan); grandchildren: Brandon and Michelle Hayes and Sophie and Sarah Drzewiecki; sisters, Arlene Gawrys and Judith Mitchell. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Hayes; second husband, Ed Drzewiecki; son, Eric Hayes (still living, Amy Witkowski); parents, Stanley and Sophie Karwatka; and siblings, Joan Pierce, Edmund Karwatka, and Richard Karwatka.

Monica was very active in her parish, St. Michael Church, serving in numerous roles over the years.  She was a long time religious education teacher and Eucharistic Minister who enjoyed passing on her love of the Catholic faith to others.

She was a true lover of music who could tell stories of the countless concerts she attended over the years.  Monica greatly enjoyed working on puzzles and board games alone and with grandchildren, was an avid cook, and loved to serve others.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN, from 4:00PM – 8:00PM. A Prayer Service will be held at 4:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 10:30 AM at St. Michael Church, 1 Wilhelm Street, Schererville, IN. Burial to follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
