Monroe's Obituary

Monroe Luther Cristee, 88, of Van Buren, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

He was born on February 22, 1937, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Dale and Melvina (Lewis) Cristee Sr. Monroe spent more than 60 years as a dedicated truck driver, a career he truly loved. Whether he was on the open road or collecting buckeyes, Monroe found joy in simple pleasures and hard work. He was also a proud member of Rudy Baptist Church.

Monroe is survived by two daughters, Karen Douthitt and husband Dean of Rogers, Arkansas and Bridget Cathey of Charleston, Arkansas; three sons, Justus Passmore of Van Buren, Arkansas, Gabriel Cristee and wife Brittany of Van Buren, Arkansas, and Scott Cristee and wife Sofia of Louisville, Texas. He was blessed with twenty grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren who brought him great pride and happiness.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Jeanie Bearden, Janie Lambertson, and Gayle Cristee; and three brothers, Dale Cristee Jr., Joe Cristee, and Hanky Ray Ramsey.

Monroe will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of driving, and his devotion to family and faith.
