Mr. Arthur Lee's Obituary

Mr. Arthur Lee Battle of 129 Moon Street, Plains, Georgia died Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the Regency Hospital in Macon, Georgia.The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 12:00 Noon in the sanctuary of the Lebanon Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Lebanon Cemetery in Plains, Georgia.

Mr. Arthur Lee Battle was born March 3, 1939 in Sumter County, Georgia. He was born to the late Mr. Emory Battle and the late Mrs. Jessie Bell Sutton Battle.

 

He was educated in the public school system of Sumter County.

 

He was a loyal and dedicated employee of Cooper Lighting in Americus, Georgia. He retired in 2009, after 43 years of service.

 

He accepted Christ and united with the Americus Pentecostal Church of the Apostolic Faith under the leadership of the late Elder O. L. Mosley.

 

A hard worker, he loved his family and led by example. He always taught his children to work hard and not to spend everything they earned, but to put some back.

 

While sitting on his front porch in his rocking chair, he loved teaching the word of God. He got great joy out of playing the guitar. He also loved hunting, fishing, traveling, tending to his plants, and doing mechanical work.

 

On Tuesday, September 12, 2017, he went home to be with the Lord. He transitioned from life to life eternal at Regency Hospital in Macon, Georgia. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandchildren, Mr. Braylon Battle and Miss Roneisha Thornton; his brother, Mr. Willie Lee Battle; and his brother-in-law, Mr. Ozzie Muff.

 

He leaves many cherished memories to the love of his life, his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Mary Muff Battle of Plains, Georgia; his loving and devoted children, Mrs. Selinda (Daniel) Buckins of Americus, Georgia, Mrs. Gloria (Simeon) Wakefield of Plains, Georgia, Mr. James A. Battle of Navarre, Florida, Mr. Jonathan (Brenda) Battle, Ms. Shaunda Kennedy, Mrs. Tonya (Curtis Jr.) Evans, Mr. Rodney L. Battle, Mrs. Lawanda (Tony) Deriso, and Mr. Marcus Battle all of Plains, Georgia; 18 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; his loving sisters, Mrs. Jessie Pearl Williams, Ms. Lula Bell Battle, and Mrs. Ethel Mae (Danley) Register all of Americus, Georgia, and Mrs. Virginia (Eddie) Sampson of Los Angeles, California; a beloved brother, Mr. Johnny Lee (Inez) Battle of Plains, Georgia; his in-laws, Mrs. Mable (Lonnie)   Streeter and Mrs. Irene Edge both of Plains, Georgia, Mrs. Bernice Scarborough, Mrs. Elaine (Daniel) Grant, and Mr. Alvin Muff all of Deerfield Beach, Florida, Mrs. Nadine (Walter) McDonald of Sylvania, Georgia, Mrs. Shirley Waymon and Mr. Leonard Muff both of Americus, Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends to include his close friends, Mr. Walter and Mrs. Dorothy Bridges of Americus,   Georgia and Mrs. Etheron Dennard of Cordele, Georgia.
