Over the years he enjoyed attending various churches throughout the community. As a child, he attended Lebannon Baptist Church.

Better known to his family and friends, as “Pete,” he enjoyed fishing, picking pecans, and playing the lottery. A born socializer, he would often ride around town and strike up a conversation with whomever he met.

He would often encourage all the children to stay in school and finish their education and more than anything else keep a job. He would often ask, “Where do you work?” and following that would be him saying, “Hold on to your job, just in case I need to borrow some money!”  He loved cracking jokes; a trait he passed on to his sons and grandsons.
