Mr.Curtis was dear to me
We talk sometimes, we both like the cowboys. Moma Eddy and I would take him out and have a good time. He would smile when he did see me. He will be missed.He's one of God's angels. I call him daddy Curtis sometimes. My condolences to mama Eddy and Thomas and family. Love ya'll. Sandra flood Davis.

My mother is Martha Ruth Carter Westbrook she 89 and lives in Arabi, Ga and she told me that she went to school with Mr. Rogers back in the day when they were young. She stated that he always wanted to be in the military from a young age and she sees that he accomplished that dream. And that she's so proud of him for honoring our country. Mr. Curtis's Obituary

United States Air Force Veteran, Mr. Curtis Rogers, Jr. of Hampton, Virginia, died Friday, March 28, 2025 at the Waterview Health and Rehab Center in Hampton, Virginia.

The funeral service, with full military honors, will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

Curtis Rogers, Jr. was born on July 17, 1935, to Curtis Rogers, Sr. and Delree Griffin Rogers. He spent his formative years building the foundations that would support a life of dedication and service.

After completing high school, Curtis took a significant step by enlisting in the United States Air Force. His military career spanned an impressive 30 years, during which he rose to the esteemed rank of E9, Chief Command Sergeant Major. His service was marked by numerous accolades that reflected his commitment and excellence: Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters; Joint Service Commendation Medal; AF Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster; AF Good Conduct Medal with six Oak Leaf Clusters; Good Conduct Medal (Army) with Bronze Loop; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars; AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon with six Oak Leaf Clusters; NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon with one Oak Leaf Cluster; Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon; Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Device; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

These commendations highlight a career defined by bravery, skill, and unwavering dedication. He was honorably discharged after three decades of service, leaving  behind a legacy of honor and respect both in the military and civilian communities.

Beyond his military achievements, Curtis had a profound love for golfing, which he enjoyed with a wide circle of friends. His affable nature and integrity earned him the admiration and respect of many.

Curtis Rogers, Jr. transitioned from this life on Friday, March 28, 2025. His life was a testament to the possibilities of achievement and love, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. His memory will be cherished by his family, friends, and the  countless lives he touched throughout his life journey.

Curtis was deeply committed to his family, cherishing his special relationship with his grandchildren. His life was enriched by the love and support of his wife, Edie Rogers of Hampton, Virginia;  his son, Thomas L. Rogers of Austin, Texas; his grandchildren, Malcom X. Rogers and Lauren J. Rogers and their mother, Mary A. Mendoza all of Austin, Texas; his sisters, Jewel R. Scott of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Glory Mapp, and Mary (Jerome) Adams of Cordele, Georgia; his brothers, Deacon Leroy (Ruth) Rogers, Deacon Jesse (Helen) Rogers, Donald (Gladys) Rogers all of Cordele, Georgia, and Charles Rogers of Atlanta, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
