A celebration of life service for Mr. Earl B. Mason, Jr. will be held on Saturday August 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Bible-Based Fellowship Church Temple Terrace, 8718 N. 46th Street, Tampa, Florida, Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Earl B. Mason, Sr. There will be a viewing on Saturday August 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. (1 hour prior to the service) at Bible -Based Fellowship Church, Temple Terrace.
Earl B. Mason, Jr. was born in Tampa, Florida on June 19, 1974, to Earl Sr. and Peggie Mason. Earl, Jr. was the first. He was the firstborn son of his parents and his father’s namesake. He was the firstborn of his paternal grandparents’ baby boy as the first “Mason” grandson. He was his maternal grandparents’ first grandchild. They were “mama” and “daddy” to him, and he was “Junior” to them.
At an early age Earl accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at St. John Progressive M.B Church. He served in the choirs, and as an adult loved working with the children and youth.
Earl was a product of the Hillsborough County Public School system for his initial levels of education through 9th grade. He continued his secondary education and graduated from Kathleen High School in Lakeland, Florida. He matriculated for post-secondary courses and continued his education at Hillsborough Community College.
Earl was an avid athlete as a little leaguer and participated in football, baseball, and competed on his high school wrestling team. As a young child he was curious and frequently disassembled and reassembled electronics. He was naturally skilled for maintenance and general contracting work. In addition to building, painting, and fixing, Earl worked at USF in the courier and delivery services department.
The eldest of two siblings, Earl, Jr. never took his role as “big brother” lightly and made it his business to protect his brother and sister at any cost. Nevertheless, Earl was a gentle soul. He took pride in being a pet lover and was known to care for various animals from birds to snakes.
Earl was fun at heart and loved music, dancing, sports, telling jokes and making others laugh, and spending time with his friends and family.
After a 17-year fight in a coma, Earl, Jr. departed this life July 16, 2025. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Willie and Vera Mason, and maternal grandparents, Lefaniel and Bertha Washington.
Earl leaves to cherish memories of him with his devoted parents, Earl, Sr. and Peggie Mason; two younger siblings, Eron and Erniesha Mason; two children, Samya and Earl Mason III; two aunts, Pleasetta Mason and Alicia Washington; 1 uncle and aunt, Michael and Jackie Washington; one nephew, Elija Mason and a host of other relatives and beloved friends.
