Interment will follow in Orange Hill Cemetery, 4900 E. Chelsea Street, Tampa, Florida 33610.George Benjamin, 80, of Tampa, Florida, passed peacefully on October 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. George was preceded in death by his parents James Hamilton and Cora Bell Benjamin.Born on January 10, 1945, in Lamont, Florida, George was a jovial and lighthearted man whose humor and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His caring nature and friendly spirit endeared him to family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. George's laughter was contagious, his kindness genuine, and his presence a source of comfort and joy to those around him.George had special gift for making people feel welcome. With his infectious laugh and bright smile, he could light up any room. He taught those around him the beauty of unconditional love and the joy found in life's simple pleasures.Music was one of George's greatest passions, especially the timeless songs of Michael Jackson. He loved singing and snapping his fingers to the beat, often joined by his housemates Jonthon and Carl in the living room. A devoted football fan, George proudly cheered for his beloved Tampa Bay Buccaneers, donning his team colors from head to toe each game day as he watched alongside his best friend and caregiver, Eddie.George also enjoyed group outing with his housemates, taking great delight in exploring everything Tampa had to offer. Some of his favorite pastimes included sunset dinner cruises on Tampa Bay, the Christmas light and shows at Busch Gardens and Zoo Tampa, day trips to Indian Rocks Beach, shopping at University Mall, and attending Sunday Mass at Mary Help of Christians Church.George is survived by his brother, Leerone Benjamin, Sr; one nephew, Leerone Benjamin, Jr.; one niece, Christina, and great nephew, Angel. His family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at All Nurses Group Home, where he was lovingly taken care of for the past 19 years. There, he became family to the owners Eddie and Leila Taghap, Grace Taghap-Horvath, and Maychris Taghap-Dean.Though his time with us feels far too short, George's impact will be everlasting. He showed us how to slow down, find magic in the everyday, and lead with love. George will forever be remembered for his cheerful spirit, loving heart, and the way he made every room brighter with his presence.There will be a viewing on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 North 29th Street, Tampa, Florida 33605.
