It is with deep love and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the homegoing of our beloved Mr. Jacob B. Hunt, Jr. affectionately known as “PaPa Jake” or "Jake", who entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 5, 2025.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at The New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 3201 E. Lake Avenue Tampa Florida, with Reverend Kendrix Gardner officiating. There will be a viewing on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Jacob B. Hunt was born on February 4, 1947, in Clermont, New Jersey and was educated in New York and later moved to Florida in 1989. There, alongside his brothers, he established a business dedicated to helping low-income families secure affordable housing. Through his compassion and entrepreneurial spirit, he inspired many others to pursue their own business ventures and become self-sufficient.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob B. Hunt Sr. and Mary E. Hunt; his brother, Reginald Hunt; his sister, Linda Woods and Williams Woods.
Jacob B. Hunt leaves to cherish loving memories of him with his loving and devoted wife, Barbara J. Hunt; children, Taavon Jackson (Sharnette Stevens), David J. Hunt (Tammy), Sandra D. Mosley and Shelton E. Blake (Deandra); grandchildren, Tonya Smith (Chris), Michelle Campbell (Jamal), Lisa Thomas (Durrant), David Hunt Jr., Eric Bell (Ashley), Camille Jackson, Alyssa Mosley, Tatyana Blake, Aden Blake, Noah Blake, Tiaje Warren and Damarion Warren; a host of other cherished grandchildren; sister, Juanita McCloud (Raymond McCloud); brother, Marvin Hunt; a host of nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Rhonda Hunt, Carrie McClarty (Donald McClarty Sr.) and Shirley A Saffore; brother-in-law, Marvin Kirksey; a host of extended family members and long-time devoted friends and neighbors. Mr. Hunt’s legacy of service, empowerment and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
