Deacon Joseph Davis, Jr (Joe Jr.), the son of the late Mr. Joseph Davis, Sr. and Mattie President Davis, was born on June 10, 1942  in Eutawville, South Carolina.  He entered into eternal rest on August 11, 2020.

Joseph was educated in the public schools in Berkeley County.  He worked several jobs including butcher, cab driver, car detailing, and as a factory worker before finding his true calling and passion as a construction worker—specifically a “Rod Buster.”  He served on many projects but was especially proud of the bridges projects.

He became a member of Johnson Temple,  C.O.G.I.C, in his late 20s.  He was a very committed member who served as a member of the finance committee, a very proud usher, and where ever else he was needed.  He later was selected and served as a faithful Deacon, who was quick to help those in need.

Joseph Jr.  was united in marriage to Caroline Lee on September 25, 1965; a union to which five children were born.  He was a wonderful Father,  a loving Grandfather, and great example of a “Good Neighbor.”  He would go out of his way to help anyone.  He was always very wise and thoughtful. He had the ability to sum up complex matters of the heart and provide great pearls of wisdom in easily comprehensible sayings/stories. He had a beautiful spirit and always looked to see the good in people first.  He was always good for a smile and a sincere, “how are you?”

He loved and supported his family in every way possible and didn’t mind going without so they could have what they needed.  As told by the many people we meet—Deacon Davis was very proud of his children and grandchildren and often talked about their accomplishments.

Proceeding him in death are: his wife Caroline; one granddaughter, Phenix Nya Davis; and one brother Abe Owens.

He leaves to cherish memories of him: five children, Dacia Jackson (Rudolphus), of Sorrento, FL.; Veronica Davis, of Cross, SC; Quincy Davis (Taujuana), of Wake Forest, NC; Samajema Davis, of Cross, SC., and Titus Davis (Shanae), of Columbia, SC; two brothers, Henry Davis, and George Davis, both of Moncks Corner, SC; one sister, Mona Lisa Guy, of Summerville, SC; six grandchildren: De’Aundre Gerald, Zachary Peek, Johnathan Davis, Lauryn Davis, Olivia Davis, and Zebulun Davis; three aunts: Ida Valentine, of McCormick,  SC, Elouise Brown and Beaulah Bryan, of New York; one uncle, Rutledge President, Jr., of Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and great friends.
