Mr. Marcellas Hurst "Bam" Gaines, III

Mr. Marcellas Hurst "Bam" Gaines III, age 52, passed away on August 17, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida 33605 with Evangelist Betty Latson, Pastors Mike & Shelita Austin, Officiating.

Born on June 2, 1973, in Tampa, Florida, Bam lived a life marked by dedication to his country, his work, and those who knew and loved him. Bam proudly served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Syracuse, New York. His time in the military reflected his strong sense of duty and commitment to service. After completing his military service, he went on to build a long-standing career with Myer’s Freight, where he worked for over two decades. His colleagues knew him as a reliable and hardworking team member who brought humor and warmth to the workplace.

A devoted sports enthusiast, Bam had a deep love for all sports but held a special place in his heart for the Denver Broncos. He was also a star running back for the Pee Wee Bucs and Packers and was given the nickname Bam by his father for the way he ran through holes in the defensive line and made many touchdowns. Whether watching games or talking statistics with friends and family, his passion for sports was infectious. His light-hearted nature and quick wit made him a joy to be around—he had an uncanny ability to make others laugh and lift spirits wherever he went.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Moore Gaines; maternal grandmother Mattie Moore; paternal grandmother, Betty Gaines; aunt, Erline Moore Cobb; aunt, Willie Mae Peeples; uncles, Charles Moore, Jimmy Moore and Thomas Gaines.

Bam was a loving son, brother, boyfriend, nephew, cousin, and friend. He is remembered fondly by his father, Marcellas H. Gaines Jr. (Ollie); brothers, Earl Gaines and Anthony Floyd; sisters, Elisa Brister (Larry), Briana Gaines and Antanisha Floyd; girlfriend, Carla Minuto; aunts, Constance Fields and Doris Kitty Gaines; nephew, Miegal Bostick; cousins, Gregory Fields, Emmitt Peeples, Shavar Gaines, Markiest Lee, from his father's side;  Sonia Cobb Beckwith, Brandy Gay-Pleas, Valerie Long, Gary Moore and Charles Moore from his mother's family.

Mr. Marcellas Hurst, "Bam" Gaines III, will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.
