Mr. Marvin John Roberts was born in Flint, Michigan, the son of Charlie Vines and Annette Roberts-Webb. Marvin accepted Christ at the tender age of 12 at Westwood Church of God under the leadership of Rev. Gerald St. Cin. He was baptized under the leadership of Pastor Martez Warren of Church Without Walls on June 1, 2025.Mr. Marvin J. Roberts attended Flint Community Schools and graduated from Flint Northwestern in the “Class of 1987” where he ran Cross Country Track and was very good at it. Marvin had a love for running and walking long distances. Marvin was a man of many words. He loved to talk, so once you started talking he monopolized the conversation. He was always going to have the last word regardless. Marvin loved his family and every one of them in his own way. He showed love by using the two-hand love symbol as his way of saying I love You. Marvin was one of the sweetest, kindest, and gentlest souls you would have ever met. He was a jokester, panning on people, fishing, cooking, working with his hands and loved having fun.Marvin J. Roberts leaves to cherish memories: son, Auntay McMullen of Flint, MI, sisters; Gwendolyn Gray Smith, Monica Fransioli (Jack), LaQuetha Tayler, Carolyn Shahid, Antonette Tyler, Charlene Vines all of Flint, MI, Jeanette Joseph of Wake Forest, NC and Deborah McMurray of Memphis, TN; brothers, John Vines, Naheim Vines, Tyrone Webb, Lewis White all of Flint, MI, Charlie Vines Jr. ( Arketa) of Modesto, CA, Shamar White of Houston, TX; aunts, Mary Todd Barker of Louisville, Ky, Allene Hawkins, Debra Ryan ( Tony), Irene Bray Johnson all of Grand Blanc, MI; Edna Vines and Ann Elliott both of Snellville, GA; uncles, Sylvester Gray (Dorothy) of College Park, GA; Jerry Vines of Metamora, MI; stepmother, Silencia Vines and childhood best friend Brian Caldwell. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends including special great nephew, TyQuan Fryer.Marvin J. Roberts was proceeded in death by parents, Charlie and Annette, grandparents, Jimmy Vines (Ruthie). Raymond Gray, Ruthie Todd and stepfather, Rev. Earnest Webb, aunt, Roberta Gray who helped raise him. Nephew, Quartrell (Quack) Gray and so many others who weren’t named.The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Mclaren Home Care Nurse, Nate Emmons RN, sister, Monica Fransioli, nephew, Leo Stringer II, niece, Von’Sha Stringer and his aunts that were shown in compassion and dedication in caring for Marvin and anyone that supported him.
