Mr. Ottis's Obituary

Homegoing celebration for Mr. Ottis Dixon, Sr. who passed on September 14, 2024, will be held on Saturday September 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Reach the Unreached COGIC, 1315 18th Avenue South, St. Petersburg, Florida 33705, Pastor Ronald Brown, Sr. with Elder Bernard Jenkins, Officiating.  Interment will be held on Wednesday October 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue Tampa, Florida.

Ottis Dixon, Sr was born on October 8, 1956, in Tampa, Florida to Rose Louise Mitchell-Morris and Scott Dixon. He attended Hillsborough County Schools and was a graduate of Chamberlain High School, Class of 1974. After graduation, he began working at Lykes Brothers. In 1991, he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and started working for Cubs Food Store until he retired in 2018. While residing in Minnesota, he met his wife Sheila, and they married on November 21st, 1992. In 2019, he relocated back to Tampa, Florida with his wife to enjoy retirement with family.

Ottis was a happy person and loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching football, playing cards, barbecuing, gardening, and family reunions.

He was preceded in death by his father and bonus mother, Scott and Ida Lee Dixon; brothers, Allen Dixon, Antonio Dixon and Nathaniel Cooper; grandmothers, Ora Johnson and Eathie Dixon; grandfather, Willie Dixon.

He leaves to cherish memories of him with a loving wife of 32 years, Sheila Dixon; mother, Rose Louise Mitchell-Morris; sons, Ottis Dixon, Jr (Jaqueline), Kevin Dixon (Jennifer) and  Kareem Gordon Dixon; daughter, Lashonda Hightower (Jessica); grandchildren, Monique Dixon, Jacquees Gordon, Diamond Gordon, Delilah Gordon, Kehlai Grodon , Zayden Dixon and Jesela Hightower; brothers, William Steve Morris, Christopher Dixon (Victoria) and  Andre Dixon (Antoinette); sisters, Sara Francis (Robert), Phyllis Brown (Ronald), Linese Washington (Garreth), Laverne Kincade, Yuanita Dixon, Debra Grant (Lee),  Lisa Warren (Willie), Annie Young (Joel), Virginia Green (Christopher), Shanta Warren (Gregory) and Kimberly Alomas (Arturo); sister- in- law, Marilyn Green; special nephews ,Marques Thompson and William Morris, II; the Dixon Family, the Mitchell Family, the Johnson Family and the Washington Family; special cousin, Roberta Washington; family friend, Kim Lawrence;  host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  There will be a viewing on Friday September 27, 2024, at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m.
