Obituary

Mr. Quintin's Obituary

On February 20, 1976, the late Wardell and Eva Rice welcomed their seventh child, Quintin Demond Rice, into their family. On March 8, 2026, the Lord called Quintin home to his eternal rest after years of battling cancer with grace and strength.

Quintin was a proud graduate of Westbrook High School, Class of 1994. He attended Lamar Institute of Technology while working with the United States Postal Service. After graduation, he moved from Beaumont to Houston, where he started a 22-year career at LyondellBasell Chemical Refinery in Pasadena.

During that time, he got married. From this union, his son Liam Matthew Rice was born. Liam was his heart. They shared a deep bond and loved sports, shoes, cars, dogs, and weather forecasting. A walking encyclopedia with a sensitive heart, Quintin was the person everyone turned to for answers.

As the youngest of seven children, he was everyone’s baby even after starting his own family. He considered himself a big brother to his nephews, Terrence and Kyle Holloway, and they looked up to him in that way.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Liam Matthew Rice, and his siblings: Patricia Dukes, and Ethel Rice-King (Larry) of Missouri City, TX, Martha Jones (Larry) of Chesterfield, VA, Lois Briggs (James) of Beaumont, TX, Wardell Rice Jr. of Arlington, TX, and Lester Rice (Jan) of Beaumont, TX. He is also remembered by a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Quintin was a kind and gentle soul. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
