Graveside service with military honors for Mr. Richard Albert Sharkey, 62 of Killeen, TX will be held Monday, September 22, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.Richard "Richie" Albert Sharkey was the son of William George Sharkey and Christa Maria Kumm Sharkey. He was born in Killeen, TX on April 25, 1963, and entered eternal rest on September 11, 2015, at Avir Nursing Facility, Killeen TX.Richard was a graduate of Killeen High School, Class of 1980. Sometime after graduation he decided to serve our great nation in the armed forces and enlisted in the Air Force in August 1980, serving 4 years before he was honorably discharged. Richie was an active member of J.Q. Adams American Legion, Post 223, Killeen.After his military service, Richie had various jobs. His last job, he worked for TDCJ in Gatesville, TX for close to 17 years and because of his health he had to quit before retiring. To keep busy, he went to work later for Domino's pizza for a short period of time.Richard was preceded in death by his parents, William and Christa, a brother Billy and a sister, Dianna Roush.He is survived by a daughter Elizabeth (Steven) Sunderman; two sons, Richard and Aaron (Josie) and two grandchildren, Bailey and Bentley Sunderman. He will also fondly be missed by a 'great' friend, Gary Randall and neighbors Verna and Harvey Jones. We would like to thank Harbor Hospice and Avir Nursing Facility for their compassionate care and dedication during his illness and stay at Avir.
