Mr. Robert Lee Poke of Tifton, Georgia, died Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the Tift Regional Hospital in Tifton, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the New Providence Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia. The burial will follow at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.
Robert Lee Poke was born on March 4, 1961, in Turner County, Georgia, as the beloved son of Eddie Lee Poke and Roberta Nickerson Poke. His life was a testament to dedication, kindness, and love for those around him.
Robert grew up in a loving family and graduated from Turner County High School in 1980. His educational journey paved the way for a life filled with hard work and community service.
A member of the New Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia, Robert's faith was an integral part of his life. He was known for his unwavering commitment to his community, where he truly "never met a stranger."
Robert was a diligent worker, making a living by providing lawn care services and working as a skilled carpenter. He was also passionate about fishing, a pastime that brought him joy and relaxation.
Robert was a wonderful provider, giving love to everyone he met. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Emmet Oneal Poke; and his brothers, Eddie Poke, Jr., Roger N. Poke, and Martin F. Poke.
Robert Lee Poke transitioned on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, leaving a legacy of love and service. His life was a testament to the power of community and kindness, and he will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He leaves behind cherished memories with his children: Robert Lee Poke, Jr. of Douglas, Georgia; Latrelle D. Ingram of Tifton, Georgia; Kenneth B. Robertson, Victor S. Robertson, and Retessa A. Brantley, all of Douglas, Georgia; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his stepmother, Tina Poke of Ashburn, Georgia; his sisters: Clara Mae Green of Tifton, Georgia; Annie Doris Johnson of Cordele, Georgia; Velvet Elaine Coney (Michael) of Tifton, Georgia; Roberta Shipman of Tampa, Florida; and Tamalyn Lawson (Rico) of Ashburn, Georgia; his brothers: Albert Dean Poke and Willie Fred Poke of Ashburn, Georgia; Nathaniel Poke (Carla) of South Carolina; Artis O. Poke (Janet) of Tallahassee, Florida; and Willie Harp of Boynton Beach, Florida; his aunts and uncle, Pearl Pierce (Albert) and Jamie Mae Jackson of Ashburn, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; a very special friend, Angeria Baisden of Tifton, Georgia, and a host of other relatives and many sorrowing friends, including John Holmes, Ray Holland, and John Holland of Ashburn, Georgia.
