                                                                 The life and legacy of

                                                                  Roy Allen Roque Sr.

Roy Allen Roque Sr. was born on September 11, 1962, to Manuel Roque and Eula Curry Roque in Shreveport, Louisiana. Roy was the sixth of seven children. In 1967, the family relocated to Cane River, Louisiana, the place he proudly called home. He later graduated from St. Matthew High School in Melrose, Louisiana, with the class of 1980.

After graduation, Roy began working at Kaffie-Frederick. During this time, Roy welcomed his first child, Erica, with whom he shared a very close relationship. In the late '80s, Roy went to visit Los Angeles, California, where he reunited with his only sister, Carolyn Roque Jenkins, and his brother, Gerald Roque. Roy worked part-time while learning the trade of home improvement under the late Berchman Lacour. After Mr. LaCour's retirement, Roy continued the business and partnered with a licensed plumber named Mr. Driver. Roy eventually established a name for himself and started his own business, Roy's General Repair, Maintenance and Plumbing, which he maintained for over 30 years.

In 1990, on a plumbing call, Roy met his wife, Kimberly L. Payne, and her daughter, Beleshia. In late 1990, they were married. From this union, two sons were born: Roy Allen Roque Jr. (Royal) and Terry La'bron Roque.

While running his business, Roy also began a new career with the Housing Authority for the City of Los Angeles, where he later became Maintenance Supervisor until his retirement.

Roy was an active volunteer at his sons' school, participating in carnivals and fundraisers. He was known as

"the go-to dad." He was also known as the life of the party-the first one on the dance floor and the last to leave. Roy loved playing poker, enjoying a glass of Jack Daniels, singing, dancing, and cooking. He often told his sister that his gumbo was better than hers. During Lent, he could be found in the kitchen at Transfiguration Catholic Church's annual Friday Fish Fry, making sure every order was right and the fish was seasoned to perfection-his perfection. Roy was a proud member of the Knights of St. Peter Claver and brought joy to children during Midnight Mass by portraying Santa Claus and handing out candy.

He enjoyed riding his custom-made stretched Kawasaki motorcycle in the summertime and driving his classic

1973 Butterscotch Mustang while playing his theme songs: "Wild Thing" by Tone Loc and "Make It Last Forever" by Keith Sweat. Although Roy had many passions and ambitions, his greatest love was his family.

Roy was a proud father, grandfather, and brother. He deeply loved and cherished every moment spent with them. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Roque and Eula Curry Roque; his paternal grandparents, Joseph K. Roque and Camillia Rachal Roque; and his maternal grandparents, Henry Curry and Maryetta Johnson Curry.

He leaves to cherish a lifetime of love and memories his daughter, Erica Rachal Vercher (Cecil); sons, Roy Allen Roque Jr. and Terry Le'bron Roque Sr.; devoted ex-wife Kimberly Payne Roque; daughters Beleshia Robert and Cheyenne Payne; son, Jared Payne; grandchildren, Ce'Licia (CeCe) Vercher, Ava Vercher, Kai Vercher, Raury Roque, Terry Roque Jr., Jai'Den Durden, Lawrence Robert, and La'zariah Robert; siblings, Joseph Roque, Bernard Roque (Rita), Carolyn Roque Jenkins (James), Darrell "Buster" Roque (Pat), Gerald Roque, and Anthony Roque (Joann), along with many nieces, nephews, family members, and a host of friends.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
