Obituary

Mr. Sammy C.'s Obituary

United States Navy Veteran, Mr. Sammy Charles Clark, Jr. of 109 Magnolia Court, Americus, Georgia, died Friday, August 8, 2025, at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 3:30 PM in the sanctuary of the Friendship Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia.  The burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia.

Sammy Charles Clark, Jr. was born August 23, 1990, at the Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus, Georgia.  He was born to Sammie Charles Clark, Sr., and Karen Mable.

Sammy was a graduate of the Americus - Sumter High School class of 2008.  After graduating from high school, Sammy proudly joined the U.S. Navy, where he honorably served from 2008 to 2009 as a Culinary Specialist. During his service, he participated in the War in Iraq and completed a six-month deployment as part of the SCAT Team (50-gallon gunner), Repair Locker Team, and Fire Team.

Sammy’s dedication extended to his professional life. After his military service, he pursued skilled trades, attending South Georgia Technical College from 2012 to 2014, where he earned a diploma and certification in Welding and Joining. Over the years, he built an impressive career spanning multiple industries, including Big Tex, Carter’s Fried Chicken, Dairy Queen, Perdue, McCleskey Mills, Windham Casting and EZ Go.

Sammy’s faith and church roots were a guiding force in his life.   During his early years, he attended the New St. Paul Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia, where he learned the values of love, humility, and service to others. These principles shaped the man he became - big-hearted, loving, caring, humble, and endlessly funny.

Above all, Sammy was a devoted father to his beloved daughter, Peyton—she was his heart, and he loved her beyond measure.

Sammy’s zest for life was reflected in the things he loved most:  playing spades, dancing, bowling, listening to music, rapping, and  cheering on his favorite teams—the Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia Bulldogs. A true die-hard fan, his enthusiasm was contagious.

Known for his quick wit and humor, Sammy could make anyone laugh on any given day. His beautiful smile lit up every room, and his easygoing nature allowed him to make friends wherever he went.

Sammy’s spirit, love, and laughter will forever remain in our hearts.  His life will forever be remembered by his loving and adored daughter, Peyton Elise Foster of Smithville, Georgia; his beloved and caring parents, Sammie Clark (Janice) of Warner Robins, Georgia and Karen Laster Mable of Americus, Georgia; his loving sisters, Ashley Clark and Jasmine Pollard both of Americus, Georgia, and Jamia Clark of Warner Robins, Georgia; his caring brothers, Kentroylis Clark of Warner Robins, Georgia and Justin Jones of Americus, Georgia; his beloved grandmother, Julia Sims of Americus, Georgia; a host aunts and uncles, Debra Ann Clark, Machiel Laster, and Charity Laster of Americus, Georgia, Stephanie Laster, Frank Laster, III (Qiana) and Talvis Sims (Sabrina) of  Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of great-aunts, great uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and so many devoted friends, Jebreka Foster, Luvin Stewart, Jasmine King, Bobby Payne, Jr., Yahsmeen Anthony, Ajante Wright, Melanie Anthony, Tramaine Ray, Markell Thomas, Keith Hurley, “Red”, Tremayne Bridges, A’shonna Mann, Brianna Burney – just to name a few. Please forgive any omissions.
