ORION - Jean M. Smith, 89, Orion, passed away Dec. 25, 2016, at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg.A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1001 9 St., Orion. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home Ltd., 1301 4 Street, Orion. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery.Jean was born May 21, 1927, in Orion, the daughter of Clyde M. and Desyl R. Gorey Coulter. She married Roy Charles Smith on Jan. 28, 1947, in Olathe, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1999.Jean was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion and years ago worked at the bakery in town.Jean is survived by her sons, Clifford A. (Jean) Smith, Princeton, Guy W. Smith, Orion, Charles E. (Georgia) Smith, Lynn Center, and Dale W. (Janet) Smith, Princeton; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Mary Lou Dopler, Hampton; sister-in-law, Rosa Smith, Galesburg; brothers-in-law, Harvey Smith, Galesburg, and Harold Smith, Galva.Jean is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two brothers, Richard and Robert.Online memories may be shared at esterdahl.com.
