Chrishiann Joy Marks, 31, entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 1, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion that will forever remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Born on September 3, 1994, to Kenrick L. Marks Sr. and D'Wanda Sanders Jones, Chrishiann was a cherished daughter whose life brought joy, pride, and purpose to her family from the very beginning.
From a young age, Chrishiann carried a quiet strength and a bright spirit. She was baptized at the age of five at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, where her foundation in faith was planted early. That faith would remain with her throughout her life, guiding her steps and shaping her heart.
A proud graduate of Central Medical Magnet High School, Class of 2013, Joy was an active member of the band. She earned the distinction of honor graduate, an achievement that reflected her intelligence, discipline, and determination. She understood the value of education and continued striving toward her goals, later attending Lamar University, where she earned her Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 2022 and was pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. She was deeply committed to self-improvement, not only for her own personal growth, but for the brighter future she was building for her children.
Above all else, Chrishiann was a devoted and loving mother. Her children were her heart, her motivation, and her greatest accomplishment. She loved them fiercely and protected them with everything she had. Every decision she made was rooted in her desire to provide, nurture, and create a safe and joyful life for them. The depth of her love as a mother is a legacy that will forever surround her children.
Chrishiann had a warmth about her that made those around her feel seen and cared for. She was determined, resilient, and deeply loyal to her family. She carried both softness and strength, the kind of joy who could comfort you with her presence and stand firm when it mattered most.
Her life was not defined by how it ended, but by how she lived, with courage, with love, and with an unbreakable devotion to her family.
Chrishiann was preceded in death by her respective maternal and paternal grandparents, Alex Warren Sanders Sr., and Zelma Lee Jones, Mary Lee Bell, and Jesse John Citizen.
Left to celebrate her beautiful life and forever cherish her precious memories are her beloved children, Kenzlie Banks and Kenneth Banks III, who were her heart's greatest treasure and the living reflection of her love. In them, her spirit, strength, and legacy will continue to shine brightly.
She is also survived by her devoted parents, D'Wanda Jones (Adrian) and Kenrick Marks Sr. (Marlina). She leaves to honor her legacy her beloved brother, Kenrick Marks Jr. (Charleigh), her nephew, Kenrick (K3) Marks III., her bonus grandmothers, Myra Jones and Cheryl Ross, and her bonus siblings, Alexia Jones, Micah Jones, and Isaiah Jones, each sharing a bond of love, laughter, and lifelong memories that will never fade.
She will be lovingly remembered by her godparents, Velma Guidry, Dora Richard, Allen Akins Sr., and Alex Sanders Jr., and by her second mom, Noryour Akins, whom she brought immeasurable joy and pride. In addition, she leaves behind a treasured circle of uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were brightened and forever enriched by her presence.
