My condolences. May God give you continued strength

Mr. James Byrd was a mentor and a friend who will be truly missed. He always greeted family and friends with a smile and welcomed us into his home. We enjoyed talking and sometimes eating good food along with playing a game or two of pool. Mr. Byrd opened his home for Bible study and several men would attend including his cousin Herman Fuller, Fletcher Johnson, myself and several other friends. That was an enjoyable time. MSG (Ret.) James A. Byrd entered into rest on Friday, August 15, 2025. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at B. A. Williams Memorial Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be on Monday, August 25, 2025 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC at 10:00 a.m. Survivors are his daughter, Pamela Byrd-Williams (Ray Williams); grandchildren: Xavier Williams and Joy Williams; sister: Mary Alice George; brother: Jack Byrd; nephew: Leonard George (Nicole); nieces: Kay Byrd, Franisia Spearman, Sabrina Byrd; great nieces and nephews: Jasmine Winters, Corey Spearman, Lilli Spearman, Taylor Caldwell, Breanna George, Alisse George, Torri Caldwell, DJ Caldwell. There will be a viewing on Friday, August 22, 2025 from 1-5 p.m.
