Myra Lois Fry, 72, of Columbus, Miss., passed away Aug. 15, 2025, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Myra lived her life loving her Lord.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 12:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Service will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. in Fernbank, Alabama. Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS entrusted with all arrangements.
Born June 26, 1953, in Columbus, Miss., to Ottis and Birdie Perkins, she was the youngest of eight children, all on fire for God.
Myra had a beautiful singing voice and began singing at an early age as a member of the Perkins Singers. While attending Southern Bible College in Houston, Texas, she traveled around the country as a member of the SBC Choir.
Myra had a special way with children. For many years she operated an in-home day care and helped raise many of her nieces and nephews.
She married Larry Fry on April 18, 1981, in Wichita, Kan. Eleven months later they welcomed their daughter, Amy, and 15 months after that, they welcomed their son, Jonathan.
After living in Kansas and Colorado, Myra and her family returned to Columbus in 1998. She worked many years at JC Penney before retiring. She was a member of Victory Tabernacle Church.
Spending time with her six grandchildren was the highlight of her later years.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Fry, of the home; daughter Amy Thomas and husband Graham Thomas of Siloam Springs, Ark., and their two children, Nathan and Emma; son Jonathan Fry of Columbus, Miss., and his four children, Jonathan Michael Fry, Jr., Katie Fry, Jackson Smith, and Lorrie Fry.
