Nancy Destri

Nancy Destri, 81, of Spring Valley, died at 12:25 am, Monday, December 26, 2016 at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.Prayers for Nancy will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church (St. Anthony building on Mautino Drive) with Rev. Robert Spilman officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley.Nancy was born on October 11, 1935 in LaSalle to Edward and Katherine Sabatini Washkowiak. She married Jack C. Destri on October 11, 1958 at St. Roch Catholic Church in LaSalle. He died on March 7, 2014. Nancy was a member of the Nativity of Our Lord Parish, a choir member and ravioli maker of the church.She is survived by her son, Tom (Pamela) Destri of Granville; 2 daughters, Mary Destri of Sausalito, California and Kristi Berg of Streator; 4 grandchildren, Kayte Ziano, Tricia Hempen, Madison and Mason Berg; 3 great grandchildren, Hunter & Chase Ziano, and Ava Hempen.She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson, Dillon Adams; and her sister, Barbara (Sister Laura Washkowiak, Order of Handmaids of Nazareth in Nauvoo, IL).
