My heartfelt condolences to Nancy’s family for your loss. She was a very special woman.
Nancy was my 1957 classmate and dear friend through the years. We talked by phone and I last saw her at one of our class reunions. The photos from that reunion bring back happy memories.

Nancy's Obituary

Nancy Ruth Elliott 86, most recently residing at the Country Meadows Place, Mason City, IA, passed away peacefully, August 20, 2025, at the Country Meadows Place in Mason City. Nancy will be entombed with her husband, Col. Donald Elliott in a mausoleum at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX, with full military honors.

    Beloved wife, stepmother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. A woman with tremendous love for God her family, friends, her pets, and for her country. Colonel Elliott gave distinguished service to her beloved country by service in the United States Air Force for more than 28 years.  Her service career took her to assignments at Scott AFB, IL; Travis AFB,CA, Command and Staff College;  Maxwell AFB, AL; Wilford Hall Medical Center, San Antonio, TX, serving in the Occupational Therapy career field, Lackland AFB.    In 1981Col. Elliott was selected as the first Biomedical Services Corps ((BSC) officer to serve as Executive Officer to the Air Force Surgeon General at Bolling AFB, Washington DC.  After 5 years in D.C. she was again selected as the first BSC officer to in the USAF to command a medical facility in the United States. She served in that capacity at Brooks AFB, TX. While assigned at Wilford Hall, Col. Elliott received her Master of Arts degree from Webster University.    Her service awards and recognitions were memorable having received two Legion of Merit Awards during her career.    Colonel Elliott was born on February 23, 1939, at Clear Lake, IA, the daughter of Earl R. and Loretta (Boyd) Noll.  She was raised in Clear Lake, attending Clear Lake Community Schools and graduating from Clear Lake High School in the class of 1957.  Following high school, she attended the University of Iowa receiving her degree in Occupational Therapy in 1961. She then was employed at Los Angeles County General Hospital for five years prior to joining the Air Force.  She was commissioned in 1966 as 1st Lt. in the USAF.  She married Donald Eugene Elliott, Lt. Col. in Tokyo, Japan.     She and her beloved husband Col. Don Elliott-retired pilot, retired in December 1994 from the service with Nancy receiving her first of three oak leaf clusters that decorate her Meritorious Service Medal.  The couple settled in San Antonio and the two enjoyed many adventures and traveling the world extensively and living life to the fullest.   Her memory will continue to live on in the lives of her step son Barry Elliott, (Retired Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer) and his wife Cecelia and their children Joseph and Sarah, Hamden, CT; nephews: Bill (Diane Cunningham) Sherman, Eugene, Oregon, Robert Sherman, Clear Lake, IA, Thomas (Sheila) Sherman, Clear Lake, IA, and John (Jill Monson) Sherman,  Clear Lake, IA; great nephews Tony Sherman (Jordon)  Tyler Sherman,  and Monson, along with two great great nieces Charlotte and Evelyn Sherman and many friends.    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband the love of her life Col. Donald Elliott on April 25, 2022; sister Elizabeth "Betty" Sherman and and brother-in-law Gene Sherman; sister-in-law Helen Rae Kraud; her in laws Harvey and Lucy Elliott, step daughter Donna Rae Rubio "Chick";  great nephew Jason Sherman; and many loved pets over the years.    Memorials or sympathy cards and condolences may be sent to the family: Nancy Elliott Family % Barry Elliott 180 Mill Pond Road, Hamden CT 06514 or % Sherman Family 502 27th Avenue South, Clear Lake, IA 50428.
