Nancy Ann Gent, 86, passed away peacefully at 2:18 a.m. Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Born March 2, 1939 in Alton, she was the daughter of Ralph Albert and Eleanor Louise (Winter) Gent. Nancy graduated from Alton High School and attended Gulf Park College in Gulf Port, MS. She graduated from University of Tulsa in Tulsa, OK. Nancy worked as a medical record librarian in hospitals in Phoenix, Arizona; Kansas City, Missouri; and San Diego, California. After retirement, she returned to the Alton area. She enjoyed many trips both domestically and internationally with friends and family. She especially enjoyed Honolulu, Hawaii. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter JZ in Alton and Interfaith Partnership of Greater St. Louis and volunteered her time at the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum in St. Louis.
Surviving are many dear friends and her nieces and nephews, Lynn Bowles Hoffman (Mike), Ralph Gent Bowles (Dawn), Victoria Scoggins Waterman (David), Laura Bowles Bosse’, Barbara Scoggins Budny (Steve), Louise Bowles Jacoby (Steve), and Rebecca Scoggins Zebas (Tim) as well as several great and great-great nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Joanne Gent Bowles and Susan Gent Scoggins Smith and three brothers-in-law, Lester B. Bowles, Robert F. Scoggins, and Robert L. Smith.
Per her wishes, graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 24, 2025 at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, IL. Rabbi Rocki Schy-Brunson will officiate. Memorials may be made to the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum, 36 Millstone Campus Dr., St. Louis, MO 63146, or the Interfaith Partnership of Greater St. Louis, 1803 Smizer Station Road, Fenton, MO 63026.
